Aerin Lauder and Monique Lhuillier Host BCRF Palm Beach Hot Pink Luncheon
The event honored Ronnie Heyman and raised a record-breaking $1.7 million for research
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) Palm Beach Hot Pink Luncheon & Symposium was held on Thursday, February 6th at The Breakers, raising a record-breaking $1.7 million for research. Hosted by Aerin Lauder and Monique Lhuillier, the event honored Ronnie Heyman with the inaugural Evelyn H. Lauder Humanitarian Award for her unwavering, decades-long commitment to ending breast cancer. Each year, BCRF—founded by the late Palm Beach resident and champion in the effort to end breast cancer, Evelyn Lauder—brings together a panel of world-renowned researchers to share the latest advances in breast cancer research. The day also included a fashion presentation featuring Monique Lhuillier, sponsored by Neiman Marcus Palm Beach.
“I am thrilled that BCRF is honoring Ronnie Heyman with the inaugural Evelyn H. Lauder Humanitarian Award,” BCRF Honorary Chairman Leonard A. Lauder said. “Ronnie is a trailblazer whose philanthropic spirit is second-to-none. The impact she’s made in accelerating breast cancer research over the last 25 years is incredible.”
“Palm Beach has always held a special place in my heart,” said Aerin Lauder. “It has been home to my family for many years and I have so many memories in this beautiful place. I am honored to be part of this incredible organization and dedicated community that works tirelessly to prevent and cure breast cancer. My aunt would be very proud.”
BCRF Founding Scientific Director Larry Norton, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center introduced a panel discussion led by BCRF Scientific Director Judy Garber, MD of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and featured Nobel Laureate William Kaelin, Jr., MD of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Heather McArthur, MD, MPH of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Charles Perou, PhD of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
