Palma Cathedral
Designed in the Catalan Gothic style but with Northern European influences, it was begun by King James I of Aragon in 1229 but only finished in 1601. It sits within the old city of Palma atop the former citadel of the Roman city, between the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the episcopal palace. It also overlooks the Parc de la Mar and the Mediterranean Sea.
Belvedere Castle is one of the most iconic features in Central Park, this miniature castle is located atop the huge rock outcrop known as Vista Rock, the second-highest natural point in Central Park.
History and Culture of the Old Town
Romans, Moors, and Christians have all left their mark. The Royal Palace of Almudaina, which is the official residence of the current monarchy, takes its name directly from the Arabic for 'fortress'. Nearby, the tranquil Arab Baths, are another reminder of their time on the island. People live their life in narrow cobbled streets like they always did. Palma de Mallorca's old town is the real Mallorca that you shouldn’t miss when visiting the island.
