About the Film
Produced by Reel City Films and written and directed by Frank Kelly, "The Critic" is a romantic thriller that takes place entirely at the Biltmore hotel. The film tells the story of Meghan Dupane (Julia Collier), a mystery hotel shopper who travels the globe to review luxury hotels. As an undercover guest, Meghan's life has passed her by as she's become accustomed to simply observing the world around her and living incognito. That is until her next assignment changes everything.
After checking into The Biltmore Hotel for what appears to be another routine review, her stay quickly spirals into an adventure of a lifetime when she meets Jack Tupper (Nick Puya), a charming golfer who discovers her true identity and offers her a proposition she cannot refuse. What begins as a reluctant encounter turns into a mysterious and romantic journey that ends with an unforgettable experience and a surprising reveal.

REEL CITY FILMS LAUNCHES TRAVEL TALES, A FIRST OF ITS KIND SHORT FILM SERIES
The Inaugural Film Takes Place at Miami’s Iconic Biltmore Hotel, Setting the Scene for a Captivating Storyline Filled with Mystery and Romance

MIAMI, FL- Reel City Films (RCF), a Miami-based boutique video and film production company, introduces, Travel Tales, a unique short film series focused on positioning hotels and destinations as stars within their own narrative film. With a passion for showcasing the hospitality industry through original short films, videos, and branded entertainment, Reel City Films founder, Frank Kelly, created Travel Tales to encourage viewers and audiences across the globe to watch the films, and then book their stay at the destination so that they can create their own memories and experiences.
The Critic and all future films in the Travel Tale series are created to achieve three main goals: entertain viewers with original short films that follow imaginative storylines, uniquely feature hotels and destinations through the use of organic product placement, and inspire viewers to replicate the experiences showcased in the film, whether that means a first-time guest reserving a weekend or a current guest booking a new experience at the hotel. Reel City Films encourages viewers to experience the films, then live the experience.
“We developed the Travel Tale series to help hotels and travel destinations showcase their unique offerings in a creative and entertaining way, said Kelly. “Our ultimate goal when making these films is to entertain viewers and inspire them to want to learn more about the featured hotel and destination.”
Reel City Films partnered with The Biltmore Hotel to produce The Critic, the first film to be released in the new Travel Tales series, starring Julia Collier (Meghan Dupane) and Nick Puya (Jack Tupper). Written and directed by Kelly, The Critic tells the story of Meghan, a seasoned journalist with a seemingly perfect job as a mystery hotel shopper, traveling around the world to review luxury hotels for premium publications. After checking into The Biltmore Hotel for what appears to be a routine review, her visit quickly spirals into an adventure of a lifetime when she meets Jack, a charming golfer, who offers her a proposition she cannot refuse – agree to a dinner date or he will unveil her secret assignment to hotel management. What begins as a reluctant dinner turns into a mysterious and romantic journey that ends with life altering lessons and a surprising reveal.
“This film gives us a unique opportunity to showcase our hotel in a new and organic way, said Tom Prescott, Executive Vice President for The Biltmore. “Unlike other marketing campaigns, a good movie leaves a lasting
impression and we believe this is a brilliant way to attract and inspire guests to enjoy experiences with us, whether they are staying with us for the first time, or returning to our resort.
As "The Critic" is being considered by several film festivals across the country, the film was unveiled during a private screening event at the Biltmore Hotel. The event was sponsored by Maker's Mark and The Biltmore Hotel.
The Reel Miami Project highlighted popular Miami destinations and resorts such as the SLS Miami Beach and Casa Moderna Miami Hotel & Spa and positioned them as one of the main characters in each story. Reel City Films is keen on partnering with other hospitality brands across the country to expand the library of Travel Tales and introduce new brands into the series of short films. With future productions in the works, Frank plans to tap other award-winning directors to help him tell the many stories within the hospitality industry and ultimately have future films play within cruise ships, resorts, and boutique hotels across the globe.
